What will it take for the FDA TO DO THEIR JOB?

In case you don't know...

CHECK YOUR TOOTHPASTE.

If it says, 'Made In China'...

THROW IT AWAY.

FDA: Throw away toothpaste made in China

Now, just in case you think I'm picking on the FDA, they issued this warning...A FULL TWO WEEKS AFTER other Central and South American countries did.

TWO WEEKS?

What is this, when supposed 'Third World' Countries beat the USA to the punch IN PROTECTING THEIR CITIZENS..

One has to wonder.

First, it was the bad pet food.

Now, it's the poisoned toothpaste.

And, yet, still NO declaration from this government about a new policy/plan to inspect MORE of the imports coming from China.

You know, if I were some sort of conspiracy theorist....one would be thinking that the pet food and the toothpaste were just 'dry runs' for something far more sinister.

Lucky I'm not a conspiracy theorist.

But, it STILL points out, once again, how the FDA is NOT protecting the American Public, and that this Administration STILL doesn't comprehend that protecting the American People from harm, whatever it is, is the most basic of responsibilities of the government.

The FDA has been failing on several fronts... from the drug industry to issues with the domestic food supply... and NOW THIS. The FDA will have to be revamped after a new President takes the throne next year....ooops I mean after a new President is elected by the people, lol. Anyway, there are so many political appointees there...and Bush & Co. (and some in the Congress) are under the influence of the drug companies to such an extent that I don't think the FDA can perform its mission. The rules for this agency have to be re-written in terms of how they operate... how independent they must be, etc. It has to be a truly independent agency... with no political or corporate interference. Until that is dealt with... nothing will change.. the legal corruption will continue.

They are finally trying to get the Chinese to agree to a plan to have our FDA people in food plants in China to test the food as it is prepared (something that they should have been doing all along).
It is troubling to think that no one had been watching all this time.

I don't think it's a good idea to rely on so much food from overseas... but with globalization & increased trade, this is the new reality. But then again, some of these countries are not exactly best friends of the U.S. And now the U.S. has become overly dependent on China for all sorts of products.

If anything ever happens with Taiwan (and I pray for a miracle that somehow a conflict can be avoided) But if anything does happen... the U.S. has left itself extremely vulnerable. Because so many of our products are made in China. The U.S. economy is basically a hostage to China.
