Oprah on the Campaign Trail

Here is a portion of her speech from Iowa over the weekend.

I am still skeptical about the question of whether White Americans will really vote for Barack Obama.

Part I

Part II

AI,

Don't be such a 'skeptic'...LOL

I'm not picking on you, AI. I know you're not a hater, but a skeptic.

Hey, you're Black in America- you're supposed to be a skeptic.

The question isn't whether or not White people will vote for him. It's whether ENOUGH White people will vote for him.

I was supposed to be in Iowa this weekend Canvassing for him, but my ankle was aggravated, and so I went into volunteer the hours that I would have Canvassed.

In the dead, cold month of December, he got several hundred folks to spend their Saturday Canvassing for him in Iowa.

As I made my phone calls, of course, I was listening. I listened as the folks left behind were making phone calls to people who have volunteered to give up a week of their lives, in the last of December, in cold ass Iowa, for this man. One person was handling Illinois calls; the other was calling people out of state, in border states of Iowa.

When they weren't talking to the volunteers, they were talking to one another about how many folks they had to interview. That they had many more people than the Iowa Obama Crew had anticipated, and that they were now asking people if they would be willing to go to February 5th states.

Something's happening out there, AI. While I'm not a Kool-Aid drinker, I've seen them. I've seen a dozen folks pay their way from CALIFORNIA, to attend Camp Obama to learn how to organize for him. I've seen an equally large group from South Carolina and North Carolina come in to learn how to organize for him.

I've been to Iowa. Several offices. There organization he's put together is very good.

I told you from the get go -

I don't know if White people WILL vote for him.

I only know that I want the answer to the question.

And, I thought Oprah was excellent.
